Breakdown of new FFMPEG 5.1 vocal removal method using example of WWE Tough Enough. Be sure to have FFMPEG installed in libraries, a 5.1 channel mkv version and make sure you have 5.1 custom mixing checked in Import/Export.
When importing don't worry if all tracks say Mono as thats how 5.1 files are split and all of them together make the 5.1 Stereo Surround Sound file even when you do a vocal removal this way you will get a good multichannel file.
Once all vocals are removed that you want removing save however many channels you left over into a Stereo file and it should keep all your channels separate and it should be Stereo. Then edit it into your recording once you have opened your newly made file.
Keep in mind all shows are different so some shows could come out with a better less wonky sounding output than others. Some shows may not even work at all.
Here are my results based on Tough Enough.
Channel 1 = Light Commentary.
Channel 2 = Medium Commentary.
Channel 3 = Heavy Commentary.
Channel 4 = No Commentary. Bass and Rumble Arena Effects.
Channel 5 = Music Channel.
Channel 6 = Other Music Channel.
In this case you should click on the triangle on Channel 5 and click create Stereo track to make a Stereo track out of those 2 files. If you want some extra arena acoustics as well keep channel 4 in as well as it's current Mono split state before saving under Stereo.
On this particular show audio goes wonky on some parts but wonky on it's own is better than wonky with watery sound like you get with a normal vocal cut. Effects may varies better or worse between shows.
That concludes this little test thing I did.
