This is your first post in two years of being a member here? Seems fishy, seems like you're one of those guys who got in just to get themes and leave. You've obviously never posted in the forum before, which means you haven't contributed anything.
I'm not one to argue on the internet cause there's usually no point.
...But since when does your lack of post indicate your contribution to the site? No I don't post here often cause I don't have time you know being a college student and all and I DO donate when I have some cash to spare which is not always a consistent habit..you know being a college student all.

So damn accusatory just like a child.

That aside. I wish this all the best!

Yea, that's an unfortunate thing. People think just because you don't have many posts to your account means you don't contribute to the forums. The thing is, not all of us have the money (or large amounts of it, for that matter) to put out to help with the site. Hell, if I didn't have to worry about money, I'd already be helping out with finding a better hosting service for the music. And, well, I can't really help out with themes, because I get mine the same time as the majority of others here. But, I still find ways to contribute to discussions & such here.

epwbigdaddy wrote: I also like the idea of putting samples of the themes on the site, just so people can hear a clip of a certain theme. That would be helpful if it became purely an info site, especially when it comes to themes that have several different versions.

For example, if you have something listed like:
Big Show - "Big"
Big Show - "Big V2"
...and so on...
If someone gets on here for information (if it's open to the public), they may not know the difference between different versions. That's where clips would be useful.
I agree having low bitrate samples would be EXTREMELY helpful (like Craig currently does) however I'm not sure how picky the host is being about the MP3 files which is why I suggested possibly playing it safe, removing the MP3s and just including a shit load of information on the main site.

See how things blow over with the host, then maybe try to introduce some samples later on down the line. It's going to take some time to edit up samples, ensure the proper bitrate is used, etc...

It just seemed like if the entire site was in jeopardy due to the MP3 files, then rip them outta here until another solution can be made. I just didn't wanna see the main page go down, (or the forums) and honestly I've always thought the main page could use a little re-vamping to include more information rather than just a production title.

And i was just in the process of backing up some files too.

This is a shame, this place has always been a great place to come for themes and theme information and such. At least all the information is staying and hopefully in due time an alternative solution can be reached to the current problem.

A lot of you make it seem as I'd it's the end of here. Someone said being back FuzionX, well as much add I lied that place it is basically the same as here... a forum. So who says this place is dead, when it can be just like every other theme forum out there with the bonus of a theme count site attached.

Well, I never said I was going to leave. If anything, I'll continue coming here, mainly for discussion & downloading wrestling albums containing original music (rather than the shitty-ass covers done by those lame-ass wrestling cover artists). As far as listening to music (whether mainstream or wrestling music singles), I always have YouTube & Grooveshark.

I like this new plan. The info site being the idea of Dean's plan to make a new better than ever info site which means maybe we can make him an admin to bring his idea to life as he was planning it anyway?

Also like the idea of this area being hidden for 5 posts like AD did back in the day or 10 posts like Fuzion-X as it means finally we will get some blooming news on here without being second rate to Disclosure for the latest news making this the non stop shop for wrestling.

I also hope Videos can be more active after the switch as well. I'm always grabbing vids on OS, E3, FBB, WWE2D, TTV, DR, WD XWF, PWT, YT ect as the community isn't active in that section.

I would love to see all of those links make it onto this forum more often as it's obviously my favorate due to me being on here everyday religiously. Hell I even like the people here even the ones I have the most heated arguments with I'm Xylot until it or me dies.

And I'm liking the idea of opening the registrations as well. The more people who are actually contributing something here the better in all sections of course rather than only the themes now.

Abusers who come on here but don't end up posting at all with a total of 0 posts in that time upto a time limit of say a month after they joined or something after registrations open well you know what to do to them already since we don't want to be flooded with inactive members we first PM them to see if they would like to contribute at least 1 post or if the answer is no we give em the boot so we are not flooded with 10000 0 post useless members since we want to become an active place.

The Evolution of Xylot Themes

This site will evolve. Here is what I'm thinking...

Phase I: Get HostGator off my back

I must delete all of the MP3 files. That is a given. However, this is only a transitory phase. Once the "heat" dies down, we go on to Phase 2...

Phase II: Theme Information Site

We convert this site into a theme counts/information site. Information for each theme will be expanded greatly, as per Steveo's suggestions and with inspiration from the ideas of others. Full production library info, date ranges when they were used, etc. will all be included. This also means that registration can now be open (with the exception of Contributions, which must be given to users on an individual basis).

I will also re-organize the forums slightly, adding sub-forums for each fed. Maybe the main site can link to these sub-forums if the user has the proper permissions to see them.

Once we have our expanded database up and running...

Phase III: Xylot Themes Version 7

As some of you know, there have been six versions of the site since its original inception in 2004. This current site is Version 6. Many of your comments have inspired me to give this site a much-needed overhaul, changing not only the overall design (which is almost 5 years old and based on a website template I saw somewhere once), but the underlying code structure as well.

Those of you who are in-the-know regarding web development may understand this better than others, but the entire site runs on a coding structure that just plain... well, sucks. The logic isn't separated at all, PHP is mixed in with HTML, etc. I plan on using CodeIgniter as the back-end framework for the site. It's a framework I'm well familiar with. At my current job I work on a social networking platform called ShapeUp that uses a very nice code structure similar to that of CodeIgniter. It's an MVC (Model-View-Controller) framework, which essentially separates the logic into three categories: Controllers, which serve as the go-between for Models and Views and handle user input and requests; Models access the database and spit out data for the Controllers to give to the Views; and Views are what display the output of the site, and contain all of the HTML.

Sorry for the digression, but I'm super excited now about working on Version 7 sometime in the future.

For now, however, I must delete the MP3 files. I forgot whether I said last night or tonight, but I've decided on deleting all of the MP3 files tonight. The sooner the better, as HostGator has hinted at possible repercussions that would affect my hosting privileges.

tl;dr: This site isn't dying. It's evolving. Join us.

ADDENDUM: The idea of having 10-30 second low-bitrate previews on the site is a great idea. Instead of 40GB of space, these files might only take a few hundred MBs, which is more than acceptable I'm sure. This could be a part of the Version 7 overhaul. :)

It's great that the forum is staying open and evolving I've always used it more than the site anyway out of all honesty.

It's kinda sad that FTP fast downloads are gone for good though other than Steveo's and Craig's I will always prefer those lightning fast speeds.

People need realise this site is not going. Only the themes off the main site will be gone. The forum will be staying, the count (main site) will be staying. Contributions on the forums are still welcome for everyones benefit. Corrections on counts will still be welcome. So don't give up, this is not the end.

While this all sounds good, I still hope someone mirrors the theme archive down the road. It'd be a shame to see all the years of contributions lost forever.

with this site changing over to an theme info site without themes MP3, what's gonna be the best options for us theme listeners,

can we list a name of site that stream theme music in MP3 or video way.

i would suggest Youtube for most of it, Spotify for the themes on that site released by the wrestling company (which right now is only one or two WWE themes and pretty much some of the TNA music library and not to mentiion not in some countries yet.) & Grooveshark (granted finding theme on there will be harder).

name off your list of video, file hosting or music streaming sites here for suggestions for us that will have to search harder to find the themes we want to listen to.

Sounds like good things will be coming along to the site! In the long run, I see this as potential to make the site bigger and attract more members. The fact that the main page can be opened up to everyone is going to be huge. We need to get more people involved in this little hobby we all share and this will be a great opportunity to introduce many people to the new & improved Xylot v7. All those YouTube themers will be able to come here and learn a thing or two ;)

I really want to see this site succeed and from reading Rich's post, it looks like he's going to be taking it in the right direction.

I definitely don't see this as the death of the site, but more of an IMPROVEMENT!
