Cheap prices.
I recently asked them about bandwidth and their "unlimited" really means if you're moving anything over a terabyte a month, they'll cite abuse of "fair use" and tell you to get much more expensive dedicated servers. :(

Great to hear that XY will persevere :)

I definitely don't see this as the death of the site, but more of an IMPROVEMENT!
I totally agree with this.
This site is only experiencing a temporary setback. There's no way TR is going to let the site die. He can use the opportunity to improve it tenfold.

I've seen many sites like this go down in the 12+ years I've been in this hobby (Sledgehammer, Themetitan, etc) but I've never seen one as resilient as this one. I think it's been down twice since I've been here and it's always come back.

What about Cyclone 2k, WWF The Music & D'lo My Hero, TPWW "it basiclly was a page with trons, cartoon tv themes and wrestling themes and I can't remember the correct initials maybe this was it I don't know" and all the rest.

Did people really come on the site part just to only click on the flash players and listen?

You can still do that now. We can all get Box Free accounts and upload to there as a filehost or something just for the preview funtion to return but they will just be on the forum not on the site thats all. The forum is better for themes anyway as it's more private especially if everyone new has to have to earn their way in other sections to get in.

To be honest, even though I'll miss being able to stream wrestling music from the site through WinAmp (as I prefer that to using the site's flash player), TEOL's idea sounds good. Terran could simply go ahead with the idea of creating a section of the board for themes. That section would be placed on restricted access by Terran & his management team, accessible only to established members (which, for the time being, would probably be the majority of the board's current membership), as well as those who post theme contributions.

Now, as far as creating a section of the board for wrestling themes, as someone pointed out (don't know if it was Terran himself or someone else), each promotion could have its own sub-section, & for people like me who like to listen to songs when we don't feel like downloading them, we could simply listen to them through the flash player on each song's link page.

The Go Daddy being 1TB is kinda good for what we need if we were to go back to hosting tracks one day as there are only 60GB worth of themes anyway and 1024GB = 1TB but then again Xylot is better off with our newly planned thing anyway as forums are much better for the themes.

I really don't see the need to have all these themes hosted here. We all have computers with hard drives (I hope  ) and hard disk space is REALLY cheap. I always thought that people downloaded stuff and kept it on their computer if they wanted it. At least, that's what I do.

I've got my hard drive barely only about 1/4 full with tons of recordings, video game rips, DVD rips, iTunes releases, CD releases, etc... so if anything needed to be hosted it for the main site, it could be recordings of stuff we don't have and maybe low bitrate samples of the stuff that's been released.

Just saying, if you guys save everything there's really no need to have every file up for the entirety of the site. Just stay active on the forums and download what people post. You'll have all your own files on your computer. Point is, people can stay active on the forum and in the long run it'll be better contribution wise

Unfortunately it looks like there is a good amount of people here who simply used the main site to stream themes whenever they wanted to listen to stuff and probably rarely visit the forums, let alone post anything. These are the people who are going to be mostly affected because they'll be forced to stay more active.

The problem is, this site alone easily used up about 20 TB/mo of bandwidth. I don't think there's a web host on the planet that would allow that for free, as much as HostGator has so far. I have to give them credit: they let it go on for years before they finally said anything.

So yeah, the themes are coming down shortly, and I will start (either tonight or tomorrow night) on new database entries for theme listings, as well as come up with new designs for V7.

I'm excited! STAY TUNED.

Little mistake here. Unless i'm completely off the track:

It's not 60TB.

63 710 Mb = 62.21 Gb = 0.06 TB

I'm pretty sure you could have no problem with Go Daddy like said before.

Even 60GB a month is quite a bit though.

if we can't have the themes on the main site anymore, have you consider making V7 a wikipedia style layout for wrestling themes and adopt a solgan of "The wikipedia of pro wrestling themes".

Not really, that would take much more space. Most of the times, they were only linked to a particular page. But that's just a guess though.

I kinda like this idea. Possibly make it so members can contribute to the database of theme info. (Kinda like how people can edit Wikipedia) I mean there's always that possibility of it getting out of control where one person doesn't agree with another and we could see something getting changed back and forth, but whoknows.

Cool idea though.

You can always implement a "lock" for certain entries to stop edit wars, that really wouldn't be that much of a problem.

Yeah and we'll probably need to make sure Mods/Admins are on top of stuff to make sure no one goes on a free for all to mess stuff up. Need the ability to ban people from editing pages if needed. lol

The WWE MSG shows I found on the internet had thames used in entrances years before themes were used on the other shows.

I come accross this one the other day where Kamala was going out to an African drumming track which Islander's obviously ripped off later on would that mean it adds a theme to his count?

Yeah, my brain no work. I did the math wrong. Sorry! :P

But yeah, I've been considering having some sort of a wiki regarding themes, but... I dunno, it seems like it would reduce the quality of the site somehow. I've made wikis before -- http://stowiki.org was originally my creation (before Curse.com bought it, hired me to run it, then fired me once they had all the files). However, I've had problems with spambots coming in and wrecking everything with other wikis I've made. We'd need to establish some sort of policy where new users have to introduce themselves before being given editing privileges or something.

A part of me wants the editing to only be done by a select few mods/admins, and not the community at large. We'd always have the forum for corrections to the counts, etc.

Another idea I had, was that if a user had privileges to view the contribution forums, we could link a particular theme to a forum post so that that user would then see a link from the theme entry to the forum post. But that would take quite a bit of work. Perhaps for a later feature.
